Meet The Artist

Serving Looks in the Lowcountry

I'm Emily Rose, an independent nail artist in Charleston, SC. I have an extensive history with a wide variety of arts and crafts, including painting and jewelry crafting. I'm thrilled to be able to offer quality goods and services in a city famous for its love of the arts.

I am a native of the Holy City, and have gotten to watch it grow and change quite a bit over the last 30 years. I'm also lucky to have acquaintances and mentors who have been watching it over the last 50 years and more to trade stories and plans with. Our city means a lot to me, and I'm thrilled to take part in shaping its future for the better.

My Nail Journey

As a lifelong nail biter, I began using press-on nails in my 20's as a means to break the habit and allow my natural nails to grow strong and healthy. This turned into an interest in gel polish, which led to an even greater interest in the art and science involved in the craft.

As I continued to learn and improve my skills, the possibilities began to seem endless. Nail art became an important hobby in my life, as something special I did for myself with no obligations to anyone else. I found that it was a powerful form of self-expression I hadn't known I needed.

Over time, as my designs became bolder and more experimental, I noticed that my practice seemed to be bringing joy to others, as well. An interest was growing among the people I saw frequently, as they went from making a point to see my latest set to asking if I was taking commissions. I was actually extremely reluctant at first, as I treasured how personal to me this practice was.

But I quickly realized that by taking clients, I would only get to do even more of what I've grown to love so much and bring joy to others in the process. Really, that's all that any artist longs for, isn't it?

Why Choose Press-Ons?

Press-on sets have a number of advantages over other types of nail extensions. A huge factor is your valuable time, as this kind of nail art doesn't require you to commit hours to sitting for an appointment. All you have to do is show and tell me what you want, then give me a day or two to make it happen and ship it to you. Because the in-person contact is removed, the nail artist is allowed to work more freely and without the need for certain licensure, which all adds up to a more reasonable price for you, the client.

Additionally, press-on nails are less damaging to you natural nails and skin. Not only are they easier to remove, but you are less likely to develop allergic reactions to various products. I, myself, can't have gel polishes or acrylic monomer touching my skin anymore after years of overexposure, and can't have my sets built directly on my hands. If you have already developed contact allergies but miss having good nails, my personal system for nail allergies might be a great solution for you. Fill out a contact form to learn more!

Perhaps more importantly, because press-on sets are built off your body, your precious fingers and hands aren't being constantly exposed to intense UV light. The risk of nail girlies developing skin cancer from years of microdosed radiation is factor which industry professionals are only now starting to think seriously about - switching from typical gel manicures to press-ons is a smart way to avoid that risk entirely.

Less time and money? Fewer allergies? Lower cancer risk?

What's not to love???

Giving Back

I've always dreamed of being an entrepreneur, because I've always dreamed of being able to support local, national, and global initiatives that make the whole world a better place. 10% of all sales are given charitably to a monthly rotation of organizations, focused on environmental issues, gender equality, and human rights.

When you support my work, you are supporting an LGBTQ+ woman in South Carolina and helping her give back to her local and global community in a way that matters.
